My PS3 keeps freezing every time I press the PS button. Can somebody please explain, and tell me what to do?

Ever since I shut the Playstation off from the switch on back without turning it off with the controller first it has been freezing like this. I keep losing my data, when I'm in the middle of the game and I accidentally press the PS button, because it freezes. I read a question similar to this, and it said there is a "pinch button" on the back of the remote. I cannot find that button anywhere, if you could help with that too please.

Turn your controller over and turn it to where you can read the writing on the sticker there. Now then, just above the right hand corner of that sticker is a tiny hole.That is what they were talking about. If that doesn't help you, then give Playstation technical support a call at 1-800-345-7669.

It's not a button, it's a pinch hole. The button is inside that tiny hole. It's on the back of every controller.
