My PS3 will not read any discs (Blu-Rays, Games, DVDs)?

Question

I have not had any problems with the system except for today, and it does not have any mods. The 1 year warranty just ran out and I don't want to pay $150 for Sony's service when I paid $500 for the system. Where or how can I fix this? Has anyone had this problem?

However there may be hope. I heard that there is currently a class action lawsuit about the defect. You may want to try and look that up.

Not 100% sure about it, heard about it from my roommate.
