  1. It is probably an untrained keet and not used to you yet. Cover half the cage with a cloth (to give it a safe feeling) and make sure the bird has plenty of food and water and then just leave it alone, keep it somewhere where people, especially you, pass by a lot. Do not stare at the poor bird or try and capture it, just give it time to get used to it's new home.

If it is raised and not a fledgling then do not hold high hopes that it will become a completely hand tame bird. It take a lot of time as these birds have a wild mentality and will try and escape you.

  2. It is probably an aviary raised bird and not used to human contact. Cover half the cage with a towel (to give it a comfort zone) and make sure the bird has plenty of food/water and then just leave it alone, keep it somewhere it can hear you and see you pass but not too close. Do not stare at it or try and catch it just give it time to settle in to its new home.

If it is parent/aviary raised and not a fledgling then do not hold high hopes that it will become a completely hand tame bird. It take a lot of time as these birds have a wild mentality and will try and escape you.

  3. stay by the cage like 5 feet away and when he is eating talk slowly that and say im coming birdy and he will be scared but he know you are coming and will kinda of get used to you until you can normaly walk up to the cage it will prob take like 2 weeks or less

  4. Just be extremely patient with it, and give it lots of attention. Talking with your keet and singing to it softly calms it down a lot. Also, try to make your hand seem more safe by putting food or millet spray in it and offering it to the bird in the cage. However, as you do this, make sure you move very slowly and talk or sing in a soothing voice as you do so. Parakeets need great amounts of attention and patience in order to gain your trust.

  5. you should play with it more like holding it and if that doesn't work you should try giving it a treat every once and a while

  6. try staying near the cage so she or he gets used to you and make sure your parakeet is in a high place and there is soft music playing because in the wild if it was quiet it could mean there was a predator near by,and parakeets love high places, makes them feel safe

  7. left him alone for alittle while
