My Pfaff 2056 is stuck in reverse...?

Right out of the box new. I made 6 buttonholes, then on the 7th it began stitching in place. I'm not aware of changing any settings, but to be sure I power-cycled the machine (turned off for 10 seconds), removed the buttonhole gear, cleared all settings, and tried a straight stitch.

The feed dogs are engaged, but running in reverse. Pushing the reverse button continues in reverse but with much longer stitches. The walking foot is also stuck in reverse.

  1. Just a suggestion have you tried the following: Get the needle bar in the up position and turn vigorously the stitch selector. If it's a one step buttonhole return button hole lever that engages with foot, to up position, then get machine back to normal sewing mode before proceeding with buttonholes.

If it's electronic computerised machine return buttonhole lever to up position turn off at mains leave for a few mins then switch on, select normal sewing, sew test then return to buttonhole...I'm not too familiar with this machine so I hope this helps, if not, I really suggest you return it from where you got it from. Good Luck

  2. If it is brand new right out of the box, I would put it back into the box and grab the reciept and take it right back to where I bought it..if they are good to their customers they would give you another machine and send the broken one back themselves, to save you the hassle of sending it back to the factory and to keep you as a customer!..its worth a chance unless you bought it too far away..with the cost of gas these days we have to weigh our options carefully! good luck!
