  1. You should Filter Your pump!!!

  2. Filter.

The recirc setting bypasses the filter but still travels the same plumbing route. By setting it on recirc you get no filtering action for the pool water. You may as well be filtering the water if you're running your pump for the Polaris.

As for the polaris itself. There are a couple of things to look for.

The most common is the hose itself. Make sure the hose is straight. If it's developed a coil, lay it out straight in the sun for a few hours. You should not store those hoses in a coiled state, they should be laid out flat, when you aren't using the unit or they'll coil again and you're back to square one.

Another thing it may be is water in the surface module. There's an air holding area on those things with a drain plug. Pull the unit out of the water and let it drain. Wiggle the unit around a bit. Hear water sloshing? Pull the drain cap and get it gone. Re cap and off you go.

The last thing may be that your polaris is getting too much water delivered to it. Adjust the pressure relief valve a bit. This will slow down the unit and may stop it from turning turtle on you.
