  1. its just old, mine broke after like 4 years, and if u have the first generation ps2 its gotta be like 8 years old it just got old and worn down.

buy a new console.  i know they really rip you off to

  2. Okay, this is a common error with old PS2s with a common long lifespan. It could be 1 of 3 things, 2 which are fixable.

One: Your fan is clogged and is not propperly spinning like it should

-Fix with commpressed air and cleaning out the rotary

Two: your rails which the CD/laser sits on is not moving properly

    -Fix by the following steps

1 Open the PS2 and unscrew the 4 s***w on the bottom of the ps2 and 4 ontop of the CD tray,

2 DONT TOUCH THE LASER! Only use glass cleaner on a quittip and LIGHLY clean the laser (achol works too)

3 Use WD40 on a qutip and also lube the rails which the tay slides on.

4 (optional) if you see a white plastic wheel next to thye rails under the CD tray, mark its origional location on the ticker and move it like 3-4 ticks to the left or right to re-adjust the tray (please mark it so if it does or doenst work you know where it was origionally)

Three: Your laser has burned out and you need to buy either a new laser (hard to find w/o paying $50+) or sell your broken PS2 to GameStop or EBGames and buy a new one

  3. i Think your ps2 is finshed becuase its soo old and probably collected alot of dust u could try cleaning it but i think tht u should buy the new slim ps2 its only 120$ or you could buy a different new game system.

    Hope I helped

  4. My bet would be thats its really old and you should either invest in buying the new ps2 or upgrading to a 360 or ps3.

  5. if it is a fan hover out the fan, check your disks are not badly sctratched or damaged, and if all else fales take it to a shope that spetialses in fixhing pcs they may beable to help
