my rabbit is losing his fur on his back, but it looks like the underneath fur, I was wondering if that is him malting? and how often do they do this? He isn't pulling it out himself, and when i pet him a lot comes off. The fur that is coming off is light grey and he is black..i dont think something is wrong with him either...Just wondering what else could be causing it? He isn't sick, and he plays like normal, but my other rabbit, isn't losing fur at all. What do you think?

  1. well it depends how old he is. baby rabbits use their "baby" fur and grow in their adult fur. is he also loosing fur on his head? if he is an adult hes probably just shedding, they do this about a month or longer depending on the breed and size.

  2. my dog does the same thing. he is tan colored, and you can pull patches of white hair out. its just his underneath fur. there's nothing wrong with him.

i also used to have a black rabbit when i was younger, and i could do the same thing.

  3. sounds like he is shedding and they tend to do that on the heat especially . to grow there new winter coats so they can stay warm .

  4. It's probably fur mites.
