My Rat wont hold still!?

Question

lol i cant get the little guys to hold still long enough to scritch them!

I dont they think they fully trust me yet, how can i tell? And how can i get them to stay put!

They'll brux if they trust you, that's a low tooth chattering noise that they usually try to do right in your ear.

Rats generally aren't the type to stay put, they're adventurous little critters. So it'll probably be pretty hard. I don't really know how.

EDIT: ahh! I thought it might be something like that! I can usually get them to let me scratch their back or something by keeping them still with food, hold them on your lap, scratch/pet whatever with one hand and hold a carrot/cheerio/yogie with the other, that should help.

Yeah, don't count on them sitting still. =P

You can try food to get their attention, but they'll probably run away with it.

Males are more of lap pets than females. i have a male and female (spayed and neutered, brother and sister) and i can drive with the male on my shoulder where as the female tries to run around on my lap. (hence she doesn't go on many car rides with me).
