Question:

My Roborovski dwarf hamsters are seriously fighting- what do I do?

I have four of them and the littlest of the four now has had small chunks of fur and part of her flesh torn in two places. I separated her for two days until the blood dried, and put her back with the other three. They seemed to be fine (sleeping in a big cuddle pile, etc), but then I noticed one of her scabs looked fresh again.

When others approach her at night when they are most active she stands up and bats her front paws at them or runs away. During the day they still sleep together. I even got a second wheel because I thought that was the problem.

All four are females from the same cage at the store, and they got along peacefully together in my house for over a month before anything rough happened.

What should I do?

  1. Separate them. They will eventually kill one another. I had two who did the same thing. They would fight horribly and have cuts and so on but they would still snuggle up together when the slept. One killed the other one and buried it under it's pine chips.

  2. hi first of all are u sure they r all females?if theres a male tryin to mate her biting her cud b reason 4 bite wounds?if u r sure the best thing to do woulld b to maybe keep her and 1 more seperate before one of them kills her.

  3. Buy different cages and separate them before they kill each other...

  4. I experienced the same sort of thing. I had two hamsters and they were from the same cage at the same petshop. I bought a couple of books and did research on the internet about the behaviour. It basically means that they're attempting to kill the smaller hamster. It would better to seperate her now before she suffers some serious injuries.

  5. seperate them straight away.

i had this same problem with two females and unfortonately one of my hamsters had killed another.

i wouldnt like to know about this happening again as it is really sad.

    hope this helps.

  6. seperate them, hamsters should not be housed together at an older age. Place them in seperate cages and take the injured one to the vets.

    Iloveyou xx

  7. separate them! eventually they will kill one another

  8. Therapy.

You could give them a bite of your Kit Kat bar  :D
