  1. if renting  call your landlord  i hope you have insurance. If you own yor house call a carpet cleaner in the moring.

  2. LMAO at Brian good answer I think he deserves the points hahaha Luv it!

  3. use elastomeric roof coatings for stopping roof leaks. this is the only solution.. if u will keep on moping your carpet then problem will not be solved... catch the root cause and then solve it.

  4. Well honestly.

Remove the carpet and get new carpet because once the carpet is wet and you do nothing about it the mold with start to grow under it.

for now your best bet is to put a bucket of some sort or a tarp under when the roof is leaking.

then use a shop vac it to suck up the remaining water that is left.

Call carpet people they can give you refrences to people who can help you out in this situation.

    thats my best bet.

    good luck darling.

  5. Get someone to get on the roof and put a tarp on it and weigh it down for a temporary fix. Get a shop vac and vacuum up all of the water. The pad underneath is wet underneath the carpet and has to be dried out or mold will grow.

  6. get a wet vac to suck out the water.,then after it dry's put so fresh coffe ground down for the smell and leave them over night and vaccum up.

hate to say it but sound like you need a new roof.

  7. h**l now people, mold doesn't grow on dry stuff. Dry the carpet out anyway you can, wet vac it, (you can rent a good one), yank it up partially and hang it over a chair, put a fan or two on it. It'll stink until it dries. After it dries slap it back down as best you can and put some deodorizer on it.

  8. Hire someone or pay them to come to your house to see what it the problem and how to fix it

  9. Yes.ssssssss....big green mold that will surround you at night and start to kiss you all over and you won't be able to escape it ....slowly it takes your breath away and gives you it's breath and soon you start to repeat the same thing it does........Now girl get a piece of plastic and cover your roof till you can get a roofer.........enough stories for ya.........but do look under the bed........he sometimes has a helper with him.  nite nite and sleep peacefully.:))

  10. b-u-y a new house if ur not like p-o-o-r or anything

  11. Short of hiring a professional carpet cleaning company...

You can rent a commercial carpet cleaner at some of the larger grocery stores (usually by the store office) or at Home Depot / Lowes.  Just use it to vaccum up most of the water, press hard and go slow).  If there was a thick layered matting (under foam) you will need to make several passes from different directions.  Leave all windows and doors open to ventilate the area & rest of the house also.  Use all of the fans you have or can borrow.

Worst case scenario... you will have to get rid of the carpet.

Oh yeah, don't forget to fix the roof!

If you can't do it right away, get a huge tarp(s) and cover from just over the roof ridgeline (highest point).  Then down the leaking side past the leak area.  Most roof leaks are usually way up from where the leak actually shows up.  Use bricks or whatever you have to keep the tarp from blowing off the roof.

If you have to use several tarps, be sure to layer them (like fish scales).

  12. First you need to see about getting the roof repaired so the leaking continue.  Your home owners insurance MAY cover this if the leak is due to storm damage.

You may have water damage in your walls and ceilings that will need to be addressed also. Water in carpets has a habit of wicking into baseboards, up walls, into underlayment and

    floor joists.

Sounds as if you have already gotten past the point of trying to save the carpeting.  Call a company that does water damage repair work, get their professional opinion and then go from there. You may well have to tear out the carpet, do some underlayment dry out/repair/resealing before installing new carpet.

The sooner you address all of these areas the sooner you will prevent further damage and even greater expense to remedy the problem.

  13. First attend to the carpet spend the time and resources to get it dry ASAP ! or else you'll have more serious health affects then mold and go out and get industrial strength carpet cleaners and a machine and fix the roof !

  14. you should find the leak and stick newspaper in it for now

and get towels to soak up all the water in the carpet. spray some air freshener in the room and hope for the best.

  15. You should have bought mighty puddy.

  16. You need to remove the carpet and install new carpet! If the damage is as you say it is, this is the only way to get rid of the stink and to eliminate the chance for mold to grow! You say its only one room so the price should be not that significant.

But first, get the roof fixed :)

  17. tarp would help if not call people (yes obvious)

also  use a bucket to catch the water
