Question:

My SAT Scores And The University of Delaware...

So, I received a 1540 on my SAT and I am very upset about it! It was the first time that I had taken the SAT and I am taking it again in October. I was just worrying that I will score lower than a 1540 the second time. If I do score lower though, is my score of 1540 from my first test high enough to get into the University of Delaware? I am entering my senior year of high school and I have a weighted GPA of 3.73 at my school, but remember that that GPA is weighted by my school and colleges have different scales than universities...so I'm told.

  1. Sorry to say thats not going to get you in.  It would be better to post what your Critical Reading and Math scores were.  Colleges are rarely looking at the writing part.  We just went through this recently and although your GPA is good, so are the other 30,000 people who apply every year.  The problem is their SAT scores are in the 1800 range.

You should get enrolled into an SAT prep class with really small class sizes.  The Kaplans and Princeton Reviews will not work for you.  You need a session with 10 or less people in it to get individual attention.  Problem is October isn't that far away, so you should consider taking it again.

But also look at the ACT.  people do very well on the ACT who don't do great on the SAT.

Lastly, apply to the school and see what happens, but be realistic about where you are applying.  Don't get your hopes up on Delaware only.  Get a nice range of schools (about 7 or 8) to apply to.  Some safety, some realistic, and some reach schools.  Delaware would fall in that reach category right now until you get your SAT or ACT up..../
