Critical Reading-490

Math-570

Writing-460

I don't plan on going to a big fancy college. Just state.

I have at least a 3.0.

Should I retake it?

  1. You should retake it just to see if you can do better, but I don't think you NEED to. I think everyone should take it at least twice unless their first score is amazing.

  2. yes

    but don't get discouraged

when i took my PSAT, i got a pretty bad result as well!

and no kidding...i got a worse writing score than you did..but i'm working on it

some people say that any section that is lower than 550 is a little dangerous...so maybe you can memorize some mmore vocabs and grammar tips and get 550 or above for both sections and maintain that 570 for your math ::) and you'll get 1670! which is above America's average :D

  3. I would say yes - try to get all of your scores up to at least a 600 per section. Even if you're going to a state school, having good test scores doesn't hurt. I don't mean to be offensive, but your test score is not very good. Try to raise it from a 1520 to at least an 1800.

You can take the test as many times as you need to. However, I would not advise taking it more than three times (it can show desperation). If you take it again and achieve a better score, then the colleges you are applying to can see an improvement. Trust me, it's good if they see improvement.

  4. Retake it just to be on the safe side. It helps to have a good score for competitive scholarships.

  5. Try to get the reading score up don't sweat the writing score. Also see what your state school is offering i did much better on the ACT then the SAT. see if you can take that. I only broke 500 on reading but got 660 Math. I think MY high ACT score got me into Penn State.

  6. First off all, it depends which state college you want to apply to. For instance, if it University of Viriginia or University of California-Berekley/Los Angeles then you'll need some work. However, if its the "typical" state schools, then I'd say your fine. To be on the safe side, I would retake without a doubt. But I understand that four hour of testing is tedious, especially when it's not guaranteed that you'll recieve a better score. You do know that colleges take the best of your scores so if you recieve a 700 on Math on your next try then you overall SAT score would increase 130 points. Also, subjects such as Math and Writing are sections that you can drastically improve on just by picking up a book.
