  1. Sounds like the batteries are dead.  Check them first.

Even if you've just put the batteries in, it greatly depends on what type of batteries you're using.

Alkaline batteries will get eaten alive by digital cameras and whereas they have plenty of a charge to run anything else now, they're too dead for the camera.

Lithium batteries are the best throw aways for digital cameras but can get pricy (about 10$ for a 4-pack)

If you're using rechargeable, then you may have bought too low of a capacity battery and it's getting eat up real fast even if they're still almost fully charged.

Polaroid batteries are the WORST for rechargeable batteries b/c in general they only hold a 1800 mAh charge.

Kodak and energizer rechargeable batteries hold anywhere from 2100-2500 mAh charge, and believe it or not the cheap digital concept batteries hold a 2500 mAh charge and are half the price of all of them.

If you have a Li-on battery in your camera, try charging it overnight and see if it still does it.

If it does, it's either an issue with the battery or the charger.

Sorry, this was long winded, but thought I should explain
