My Sears Craftsman garage door opener wouldn't close, then after pulling the disconnect cord I can't reconnect

My sears craftsman 3/4 garage door opener (about 1 or 2 years old) wouldn't close one night. I sprayed inside the tract with silicon to make sure it wasn't stuck and it's not. It would only go down to about where the sensors are, and then start going back up. I noticed the right sensor has an orange light and the left one has a green light. I don't know if that's right. I pulled the cord to disconnect the chain and have been putting the door up and down manually for a couple days. But now I can't get it to reconnect to the chain. My last garage door opener reconnected itself at some point if you just ran it. Anyone have any suggestions? Are the sensors my problem and how do I get the chain to reconnect?

  1. There is a number to call regarding garage door openers. Sears opener was purchased to replace one which appeared to be faulty. After installation the door did not close all the way. Sears gave me instructions over the phone to turn some s***w on the chassis to the right. I did so and the door closed. So give them a call and you should receive some help in alleviating your problem. It sounds as though there is some interference with the sensor lights or they are not aligned properly. The latter is the reason.

  2. the release has a two part mechanism pull the rope strait down it should allow the trolley to engage.

the photo eyes are correct ! but they may be off a little, making the door reverse. check to see if flickering
