Hope you guys can help.

Got my paycheck on Friday after leaving work at 5:30pm.While getting gas in my car, I broke my flip flop walking out of 7-11.

Tried to go into my bank (Community One Credit Union) barefoot. The employee told me i couldn't put my paycheck in the bank because I was barefoot. I showed her my broken shoe. She said if I couldn't keep the shoe on my foot the whole time I coudn't come in. I told her I could wear the not broken one she said no.I couldn't walk with the broke one on because both the toe piece and a side broke.

What really sucked was it was 5:58 and they closed at 6pm. Closed Saturday and Monday for Labor Day. So I couldn't cash my check.

Should I have been allowed into the bank? It isn't like they serve food or anything with glass in it. I would have worn the not broken flip flop. Besides, when people stand they sometimes take one of their feet out of their shoes anyway.

They do not have a drive thru. It's in the middle of a strip mall.

Anyway I'm really mad I bounced 2 checks today since I couldn't deposit my check.

What do you guys think?

  1. Sorry, it's their rules. There's nothing you can do about it.

  2. i wouldnt care

  3. This may seem unfair at the time, but it is not an issue dealing with sanitary conditions, as suggested, but a requirement from insurance companies.

If you were to trip and hurt yourself; or worse... trip and hurt someone else, while on the bank's property, the insurance company would be required to pay for these injuries.

Now the insurance company can spend years fighting this out in court with you since it was you who decided to wear a broken flip-flop into the bank, but that will cost thousands in court fees, lawyers and years of wasted time when they could just simply tell you NO!
