Question:

My Snake Vladimir.... Help?

I bought him today.

im not afraid of snakes or anything. Expecially Vlad. He's only a 10 inch CornSnake.

But whats the easyest way for me to pick him up without him trying to strike me?

  1. Move slowly but without hesitation, pick him up gently from the middle. You may also want to come at him from the side or at an angle, rather than from directly above (since that's normally how a predator approaches). Congrats on your new hatchling! They're wonderful little animals. I love my guy, I have more pictures of him than my cat, and I've had the cat about a year and a half longer!

    I've linked to a great little freeware program that will help you to measure your snake as he gets older. Much easier than trying to get him to sit still on a tape measure. =)


  2. You should pick him up with two hands, but gently reach for him, let him know you're coming. Then you should pick him up from the middle of his body, not holding too tight.
