Question:

My Sound Recorder Won't Record!!?

I have Windows Sound Recorder on my laptop, but I cannot get it to record anything! I've tried using a microphone and I plug it into the jack right by the headphone jack on the left side of the laptop. When I press the record button, the slider moves as if it was recording, but when I try to play what I recorded back, it says it's playing, but there isn't any sound. I've tried changing my volume properties to recording, and it gives me two options: line-in and microphone, and they are both checked, but the microphone doesn't work, and I have no idea what line-in is. What is my problem???

  1. Double click on the "speaker icon" on desktop.  Click on "options" then click on "properties", then put a check in the "record" box.  Then click "OK", then take the check out of the microphone mute box, and move the slider nearly all the way up.  That should fix it.

If you have one of the lower priced Dell machines it might not support microphone even though it has a jack for it.

Email me if this didn't fix it and I will go to plan B  :)
