  1. You have to rule out some things first, like does your computer play any audio at all, like mp3s on your harddrive? (might be the volume on the youtube player is too low). Have you tried connecting a different set of speakers or headphones? (might be the speakers themselves). Try messing around with volume settings as suggested by the other answerer whose name I can't say because it's hearts and musical notes :) Also look in your device manager to see if your soundcard/chipset has an error. On windows xp, this is

-right-click My Computer on the desktop or in the Start menu and pick properties

    -pick the Hardware tab

    -click device manager

-expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" item by clicking the + next to it (if it's not already expanded)

-look for a yellow question mark or red x. If there is one, you can right-click and choose enable (for red x) or uninstall (for either). Next time the computer boots, it should reinstall it for you. You might have to update the driver too.

    Good luck.

  2. If it is a new computer maybe the speakers are busted. You should return it to get a new one. Or if you know for a fact that the speakers have worked before on a different internet provider, call your new internet provider and tell tham about it. They may be able to fix it :-)

  3. First go inside your computer and be sure the volume and that little speaker are up and are not on mute>

  4. Try changing your speaker settings. If you have a PC, just go to start

    settings

    control panel

    Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices

    adjust the system volume

    speaker volume

and then put all the channels and "left" and "right" at the highest volume

The same thing happened to me yesterday and this worked. Hope it helps.
