Keep making an annoying clicking sound when I press the buttons. It is not new (my sister had it for about a year and a half) the buttons are kind of worn out but they STILL make that sound.

How can I fix it?

  1. Take the color plate off and try to clean around the keys. The plate can be removed by using your nail to pry the silver tab on the bottom towards yourself. Then lift up on the tab and "snap" the plastic color plate off. This should make cleaning easier. Do not use water. A cloth should do the best. Otherwise I cannot fathom what would produce this type of click.

  2. Try taking apart the device (typically a mini-s***w set will do the trick in this case) and make sure you put the screws in a bag so you don't lose them. Now, all you need to do is take out the keys key by key, making sure you have a diagram (I have provided one in my source) of the keys so you know where each one fits once you're done swabbing. Now then, take some rubbing alcohol, or put the keys in an ice cream bucket, use soap, and scrub them. This will get anything that may be lodged/stuck in the keys out, and probably take the sqweaking away. Once washed, either use a blow dryer on the AIR (NOT HEAT) setting, or use a low powered fan to dry them. Once dried, use the diagram I have provided in the source to piece the keys back together and s***w in the screws.
