The TV set is an old General Electric TV made in 1984 the model number is 19PC575OW and it is 120 volts AC, 60 HZ, and 1.5 Amps. I was helping a friend pack up because he was moving and I noticed that he had an old TV set. I asked him if I could have it so that I could use it in my study, he said that I could have it but it was broken. I took it home and plugged it in and a white line appears across the screen while the top and bottom are still black. You can kinda see the picture if you look closely at the screen and you can hear the sound perfectly. I don't know if this is a problem that I can fix or if it would be cheaper to buy a whole new TV set. I love this TV and it fits perfectly in my study because of the wood design but I dont want a broken TV. If you can help I would appreciate it!

  1. The problem is in the vertical circuit. The problem could be as simple as resoldering bad connections on the ic to having to replace the ic with several capacitors. This is only a 19 in. model and most shops can easily repair this for 50-100 dollars

  2. the problem is the vertical circuit.the repair could cost you around 300 dollars. You're better off getting a new tv.the tv you got from your friend IS old, and probably no good or on the verge of being no good anymore, to say the very least.
