I got a drivers license in tx about 2 yrs ago then about 6 months after that It was canceled. At the time I got my lic i was staying in a hotel so that was the address on my lic. I never received anything stating it was going to be canceled. I got a ticket after that about a year ago and now that I found out about my lic they are saying that it now has a mandatory 1 yr suspension b/c I got a ticket when it was canceled. They said they mailed a hearing letter 2 months ago which i never received. I need to know if there is anyway around this b/c if I dont have a lic Im fixing to lose the new job I just got when they find out. Does anyone know a way around this it would be very help full

  1. you need a lawyer - someone who understands the DMV and Texas law and can get this in front of a judge.  Because arguing with the DMV is probably not going to help.

  2. You need to go to the Texas DMV and explain the situation, and hopefully they will help you get it resolved. If they don't/won't help you, you may need a lawyer that specializes in these situations.

When you moved from the hotel, you had an obligation to inform the DMV that you moved, your failure to do so helped put you into this mess - that plus whatever you did/didn't do that caused the cancellation in the first place.

Expect significant fines - and next time inform all relevant government organizations when you move - they don't have any magic way of finding out.

    good luck
