Question:

My Toshiba HD-DVD player causes my LCD to go black .?

Whenever i put in a DVD connected with the HDMI to The LCD (Westinghouse) the screen goes black .

The DVD is playing but i cannot watch anything .

  1. Set the HDDVD player to 1080i then while the DVD is playing and the TV is on, unplug the HDMI from the TV and plug it back in. That will probably do it.

Make sure your resolution on the HD DVD player is set correctly, if you are trying to push say a 1080p signal to a 720p set that accepts 1080i signals that could be your problem right there.  Try setting the HD DVD up with standard composite cables (red white yellow)  and check the menu to be sure your resolution settings are right and you are outputting through HDMI, THEN plug it in with HDMI.

    If that does not do it then it might well be the TV,  I've seen my fair share of complaints about HDMI on Westinghouse TVs. They are very inexpensive and sometimes you get what you pay for quality wise. :(
