Toyota Celica GT 2001

Manuel- 5 Speed

It won't pick up speed till I reach 4-6 RPMS, I tried shifting to higher gears, but it dosen't help at all; then I tried going in reverse and it also dosen't pick up speed till I reach 4-6 RPMS. When I push the gas it sounds like I'm Reving it up, till I reach 4-6 RPMS. Before I change out the clutch should I look at other possible solutions???

  1. GET A NEW CAR

  2. sounds like a clutch slipping.  maybe after you've driven it open the bonnet and see if it stinks-  if there's a dirty burning smell its probably your clutch.

  3. I seriously suggest you just take it into a Toyota dealership or even into your local mechanic before you go out and start replacing things.

It may just be lacking a service...who knows?

    Good luck with that

  4. The clutch has died. The more you rev it the worse it will be.

    Good luck. h

  5. go test drive some other celica's and compair.

may be this is the way the engine has been designed.

may be the max torque will be delivered at 4-6 rpm!?
