  1. Hard to say.  Maybe it is sick.  Check with a web site about turtles.

  2. My turtle loves to swim around. Maybe the tank is not big enough for her to swim, Do you have a nice filter system. I had one with water flowing into the tank and she loves to go under it. Also your water must be clean. The filter system need to be clean every other day and as for the water. I moved some out and put some in (around have the tank) and then change the full tank around every four days. The must be on the right temperature, too cold they will want to sleep and too hot, ouch you will cook her. Hope you can find one of these points helpful.

  3. Did you find out on the other question you asked if it is a Midland painted turtle.

I gave some hints on your last question..

Could be a Respiratory Infections *****Sliders, cooter, map, painted, yellow bellied and other aquatic species are susceptible to respiratory infections.

Toys..well they generall play with the fish in their tank before they eat them., Fish and leafy greens are so IMPORTANT Gandalfmom..

Many respiratory infections that can affect sliders are mild and easily treatable in their EARLY stages, but there are also some particularly virulent infections that can kill a turtle very quickly without veterinary attention. Sliders usually develop respiratory infections when their tank is too cold. Tank must be 75 to 80 degrees. Symptoms of  infection include a runny nose, wheezing, lopsided swimming (an ailing lung changes the turtle’s buoyancy), lethargy, and a refusal to eat. If you identify the illness in its early stages, you may be able to treat it by removing the sick slider from its quarters into a new, clean tank (especially if you keep multiple sliders, since the majority of respiratory infections are contagious) and keeping it a few degrees warmer than normal. Warmth is the most crucial factor in treating respiratory infections in the home. If the condition persists for more than a few days or worsens, bring your slider to your veterinarian, who will treat the infection with antibiotics.

  4. Toys?  Toys for a turtle are live fish she can chase.  I got terrible goose bumps reading this, and my shoulders hunched.  You put "warm water.  Is that right?"

You said "tank" so I assume it's a water turtle.

WHY would you have to put in warm water?  Is this a tiny plastic thing which is freezing her?

    (Shivers again.)

This is the net.  YOU can USE it.  YOU are HERE.  So, I never understand Q's like this...  WHY did you not google your turtle species, and find out what it needs when you go it?

YOU ARE ON LINE now, so?  WHY are you asking this here, instead of researching your turtle?!!

I can paste 20 links for you to learn, 'just like that,' but if you haven't bothered so far, what's to make me think you'll read them?  Why should -I- be bothered with researching, and copy/paste, and my 35 yr. of knowledge, when you can't even google basic care?!!  WOULD you read the links, if I posted them?

    I doubt it.

I get frustrated.  I'm here to try to HELP people who need it, but I run out of PATIENCE.  This kind of Q makes me NUTS!!!

In short?  Your turtle can't be bothered to move cause you invested as much time in IT as you did in typing this Q.  WHAT kind of turtle?  HOW long have you had it?  How old is it?  HOW are you caring for it?  DOES it live on land or water?

I'm angry.  I broke my crystal ball, and can't even guess at this one!

    (Stomps the shards in fury.)

GOOGLE YOUR TURTLE AND STOP THINKING THE WORLD OWES YOU SOMETHING!

If you can't even ASK a whole question, do NOT EXPECT an answer!

I would be HAPPY to help you, if you had only asked HOW!

It is YOUR pet.  FIND OUT HOW TO CARE FOR IT.  Questions like this are NOT the way.

They just show us how little you CARE, and how much work you want us to do FOR you.

So, to sumerise: Yes, she is always asleep.  No, turtles do NOT play with toys.  They are not a puppy or kitten.  You added warm water (are you wanting turtle soup?) and did you do anything wrong?

I have no idea if this is a tortoise, or water turtle.  A baby or adult.

I cannot answer this question, other than to state it frustrated me just reading it.

Take the turtle to your vet.  SHE/HE can read sign languarge as you stand before them.

**ADD - WHY am I not surprised to find your IMs and mail closed?  You want answers, and give no one any way to reach you but like this.  IF you want help for you and your turtle?  Ask full questions, and OPEN YOUR MAIL.  MINE is.  Mail ME!

  5. it sounds like you are killing it.  what kind of turtle do you have?  we can't give advice until we know that, except take it to a vet.
