I have a baby turtle named Squirt. He is a Red-Eared Slider Turtle. One day when I was cleaning his tank, I saw a mark on his chin. Its sort of dark gray but light black. What could it be? Is it a cut? A bruise? Or maybe even a germ? Should I take him to a vet? Please help. And please do not be rude. Thank-you.

  1. Want to hear something creepy?  I have a RES named Squirt with a mark on her chin! No joke.

I took her to the vet because she had shell problems when I got her and asked the vet about that spot. She told me it was probably part of the infection that was affecting her shell. I soak her in diluted betadine since it affects her whole shell but you can dilute some and put it on a Q tip to apply it and then rinse it before you put him back in his enclosure. My vet told me to do the soak for 4-6 weeks and it will help. I have been doing it for two weeks now and the spot on her chin is healing nicely.

    Hope it helps!
