Are there steps I can go through or should I just buy a new iPod cable?

  1. If any of your friends have the same iPod, then lend their cable and check . If the problem persists then you need to format it. Better yet, take it to a apple store.


  2. Make sure you have the right version of itunes. If you do and it still doesn't work, Then delete then reinstall  itunes.
