My VCR is caput, I would like to transfer my tapes to dvd.is this legal. and what if they're write protected.

Perfectly legal if done for personal use only. Write protection concerns recording ON to the tape, not recording OFF of it.

Personal use - do what you want - or should I day do what U can.  Years ago they sold descramblers on the black market.  Best bet - by older movies on Lasar discs (they sell for under $5.00 on ebay)  U can even buy a used player for $100.00 & those discs are not copy guard.

I am not to sure on the legal side but i have heard on This Morning that people were putting all their vid collections and if it was illegal then i do not think they would of shown it on live tv. There should be a site some where on the net, start with video/dvd and narrow the search from there.
