Question:

My VCR will play anything except home videos?

We recently purchased a DVD player/VCR combo because our old DVD player had broken and we found a pile of old VHS's and home videos in the garage. Today, I tried to watch some of the home videos, but when I hit play, it just shows the actual TV channel. The VCR will play regular movies, and the DVD player is working completely fine with no blips. We have Time Warner Cable and DVR, and the box is hooked up through that. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it won't show home videos, and how to fix it? The TV is about seven to ten years old, but the man at the store said that it is compatible since it is digital. The only other problem we have found at all with the VCR is that it shows movies (DVD as well as VHS) really brightly. Can anyone help?

  1. That's very odd. Try fast forwarding and rewinding the tape. It may be too tight to play.
