am driving a 1998 Vw jetta glx vr6 1.8lt...ive went to pepboys and he changed my tires and done alignment and rotation...immediately after that ive herad noise from my front wheels....

At first I thought it might be a tire. But I hear the same noise with winter tires and new summer ones. The noise seems to come from the front right when I turn the steering wheel, even ever do slightly. I don't hear it, or rather, it goes away, when I turn left, because I can still hear when going straight. It's louder when I turn right. I hear it most clearly on smooth pavement at least 15-20 MPH. Even when going straight I can hear it, but when I turn the wheel even a millimiter on to right...the noise appears. plz help what to do i stay in ellicott city,MD..suggest a good mechanic if u have any in mind....Thanks

  1. CV joint or CV joint boot.  Hopefully it's the boot, that's much cheaper.  Get the problem fixed ASAP - if you drive around with bad boots your CV joints will dry out and then you'll be looking at a much more expensive repair.

  2. you may have a worn cv joint have a look at the boot and see if it has a split

  3. You may have a bad strut or bad bearing. I have a 2000 Jetta that had that noise turning left and it needed new struts and i just recently got them replaced. Struts and new alignment costs around $400.
