Does the Schengen treaty really exclude the British from taking spouses to Italy? I have a two month deadline to get there. But the Italians want to see more in our bank account than we actually have - unless we borrow. Is there any way round? No, I don't have any relatives, who live there and could sponsor us, by the way!

  1. The fact of the matter is that a Schengen visa is valid for all Schegen countries. If the Italians are giving you a hard time then try the French. Tell them you want to go for a weekend to Paris etc.... I hear the Germans are a lot easier to deal with too. The Italians are.... well... Italians! Just get a Schengen from anyone who will give it and tell them their country is the best and that is where you want to go. Then when you do trabel to Italy and they ask you why you got a French Schengen just say that you were going to come by car but the var broke down at the last minute and you had to get a flight. Remember you are talking to Vegetables so talk Vegetarian...

  2. apply for travel visa,

then if she your wife why are you going to italy for a wedding???

  3. I do not think the treaty really exclude a British from taking their spouses to Italy however it best that first, you check on the Italian Embassy website in UK or alternative email them to seek clarification. At the same time, ask them is it enough for your wife just to get travel visa, if yes, then it much easier.
