My Viking Bay leads market for Selling Hurdle
My Viking Bay is leading the betting market for Lady Mostyn Memorial Red Cross Week Novices’ Selling Hurdle, a high-voltage Class 5 contest that will go down at Bangor-on-dee racecourse today, May 4.
When the break calls comes at 6:00 (GMT), the John O’Shea-trained bay mare will start from Trap 7 along with his 7 competitors such as A Hit Is A Hit, Garyricken, Ghaabesh, Green Lightning, Mahfal, Indefinite Hope and Tibberton Tara. All these runners will
be required to cover the distance of 2 miles and 1 furlong on the Good To Soft track. The winner will be awarded a cash prize worth £1,779.
My Viking Bay is likely to break her maiden today. The eight-year-old veteran sprinter has run for 20 times so far since starting her career in December 2009.
Since the dawn of 2012, the maverick mare has produced some outstanding performances. After earning a runner-up rank each on February 26 and March 22. While being a 13-8 favourite, she again finished first in a big race on April 4. The Mrs Ruth Nelmes-owned
runner grabbed 3rd position in her last outing on April 9.
At the moment, My Viking Bay is awash with confidence and courage that will lend a great hand to her in the Selling Hurdle. The mare’s chances to finish first will be as high as 90 percent.
Among the other runners, Ghaabesh and Mahfal will also struggle hard for success.
Ghaabesh started his career with a runner-up position on July 29, 2012. The Donald McCain-trained bay gelding nicely finished 3rd and 5th in two races on October 16, 2011 and April 19, 2012 respectively. He will be able to do well today.
On the other hand, Mahfal has 13 starts to his name. Brian Ellison’s bay gelding grabbed a runner-up rank excellently on March 12, 2012. The brilliant horse went ahead to finish 8th and 7th in the two subsequent races.
In this situation, there is going to be a rip-roaring clash in the Selling Hurdle. My Viking Bay will have to fight with her back to the wall in order to thrive. Good luck to all the contestants.
