My Villain's Habitat? Help please! ?

My villain in my story lives in a very dark place. The sky is red and black, and the ground is black. There is no wildlife. What can be some reasons that caused him to choose this eerie habitat? Answers much appreciated!

If your imagination is failing you , try to do something to get it working yourself. Don't rely on us to write your story for you! Go for a walk or brainstorm a bit. The chances that somebody else's answer, particularly a disembodied internet stranger's, will satisfy you are slim.
