his child and is exhibiting maternal feelings toward her? She seems to like it (purrs, shows her belly), but gets tired of it after a few minutes and flees.

I wouldn't say he has maternal feelings but it is safe to say they are good friends.

welll i had a dog and a puppy and mt older dog would alway like to play and l**k the puppy so i just think that maybe your older cat just thinks its hes friend and he prolly know that its a kitten so maybe it is trying to take care of it

westies are so great they love everything my friends westie has two pet hamsters and he plays with them and has never hurt them hes so gentle and kind the hamsters dont really know what to think though haha

Most pets will eventually bond with each other in a litter-mate sort of way.  It sounds like he just likes to play with her sometimes.

aw that's so cute you should put a video of it on youtube.com but he could see her as his "girlfriend" too and he likes her like that but i don't know id need to see them to decide
