My Westie and kitten have just met while Westie was off the leash. He nuzzled her forcefully, is this normal?

He also groomed her. The kitten purred, showed her belly, and rubbed against him. Does this mean they will be friends? Will my kitten forget about us for the Westie?

as long as they dont hurt each other, that's perfectly fine.

though in reality, dogs and cats have different modes of communication.
