My Windows XP wont let me to anything; help pleasee?

Question

we have verizon as our phone and computer server? but okay so last nightt my mom got pissed and just unplugged the phone outa the wall and ever since then our computer wont work let me go on anything. every time i try to get something up on here it says something a popup comes upp like "_____ has encountered a problem, sorry for the inconvience." then two buttons on the bottom that say- send error; dont send. then when i click dont send it always closes the thing i was trying to get up.

It does it for AIM; Firefox; Internet Explorer; Norton; and anything else i try sooo i'm pretty sure its not the internet. and iwas just on the phone with the verizon people and microsoft people to see what the problem was and how to fix it and they didnt help at all and i really dont want to call them back. Someone please tell me how i maybe could fix it or something?
