Question:

My Wireless Network has Disappeared?

Hey I hope you can help.

I searched all the other questions to try and find something but nothing helps me.

I can't really describe what happened, but here we go.

While on my PC suddenly my 'Wireless Connection' dissappears. It can connect to the router but can't get further, and the icon within 'Network Connections' has dissappeared, it was there 5 minutes ago!

Every other system, my laptop, my mothers desktop, and my two mates laptops, can all connect to the internet using the exact same means. It's only my pc.

Does anybody know what could be wrong? How a connection can just suddenly dissapear and I can't get it back?

  1. I would suggest that you check to be sure that your wireless card is enabled.

If you still can't access your network, perhaps you should try repairing your connection by going to the Control Panel and then to Network and Internet Connections.

From there, you should right click on your connection and choose Repair.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest that you try restarting your computer and then checking to see if you're able to connect to your network.

If that still doesn't work, perhaps you should try resetting your router by unplugging it for about fifteen seconds or so.

If you still can't access your network, perhaps you should try doing a System Restore to a time when you were able to access it. If you would like to do a System Restore, you should go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!

  2. I agree with everything Jamie says.

However, only do a system restore as a last resort.  It is usually a lot more trouble than just fixing the problem.
