My Xbox 360 controller will

My Xbox 360 controller will not sync with the xbox 360, its a second controller that came with the xbox 360 free and the batteries that came with it are a different brand than the batteries that came with the xbox 360's controller. Every time I try to sync it (using the button near the power button on the console with the button near the battery pack on the top of the controller which is supposed to sync controllers when pushed together) it gives me a four full green ring flash from the controller and it seems as though the xbox can't even find the controllers signal. I tried a solution given by this site and it hasn't worked, and I'm having a party soon and really need immeadiate assisstance! Help please!
