When I turn my Xbox on it has green lights around the power button..

And I get good sound - but no picture. Yes, the yellow cable is in the yellow hole.. yes the white, is in the white hole.

I'm NOT using an HDTV.

I've tried on 2 different TVs.

I've press "Y" and the "Right Trigger" (Couldn't see anything..)

I've tried everything.

No RRoD..

Any help here?

  1. the cable might be broken. have you tried replacing it?

  2. the thing where you plug the AV jacks from the back of your tv to the xbox look on the side of that plug in and make sure you have it set to HDTV or standard that could be the problem or you have the AV jacks messed up

  3. plug in the cords.........

  4. Same thing just happened to me. Right before it happened I noticed the color was looking a bit weird on one of my games and the next time I turned the XBox on there was no video. From what I could find out through various websites was that the video card had failed. Luckily I still have my warranty. If your console isnt under warranty there are a few things you could try short of paying Microsoft to repair their flawed product. The problem with the video card is that MS uses cheap solder to connect it to the motherboard. Its possible that it can melt and lose its connections from nothing more than the heat from the console running. A temporary fix could be the towel trick if youve heard of it. If not, just look it up on youtube. Its pretty easy to do. It would melt the solder and hopefully re-establish its connections Another more permanent fix would be the X-Clamp mod. You'll have to look that one up too. Its rather complicated and takes a bit of know-how. If you go that route I'd suggest adding a additional fan as long as you have the console open. It might help prevent any other problems.

You can find some good walkthroughs of doing an X-Clamp mod at http://forums.xbox-scene.com

  5. 1. make sure the switch on the bit of the cable pluggeed into the xbox is on TV, not HD.
