My Xbox 360 is broken??

I'm pretty sure 80 percent of Xbox 360 users have had their 360 break at one time or another. This is my first break. I haven't had a chance to call Microsoft since i'm busy with my schoolwork. So I hope you guys can tell me if this ever happened to you. OK, 3 times out of 7 that I turn on my Xbox, I get the Red Rings of Death. The other 4 times, it either freezes within 2 minutes of going in-game, freezes when the Xbox 360 logo comes out when you turn on the console, or it freezes right off the bat and takes you to a screen with a lotta squares. So what did you guys have to do when you sent it in for repair? Any paperwork? Any fines?

  1. Don't send it in. They will keep it forever. You can fix it yourself in under an hour. There is a website that has a review of the top five (or four) repair manuals. Pick the best one that fits your needs. It should cost less than 17.00. One of the repair manuals also come with video's to help you.

  2. You cannot be fined for anything. You call Microsoft, talk to someone, they set up a repair, a week later you get a pre-paid box to ship off your console, then two to three weeks later you get it back. BTW, there is only one ring of light so there cannot be red rings.
