  1. I HAVE THAT EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!!! i don't know, but i hope someone answers this question right.

  2. Yahoo updated chess you now need the new version. But you have to remove the old one 1st.

normal clearing of cache does not remove game demos.(deleting browser history old files clearing cookies, ect)

click start button,,search, click on files/folders, type in yahoo chess. When file comes up, right click on it then click remove. Next trip to chess it will prompt you to download the new demo of yahoo's newest version of chess.

I use adobe flash player 9  have no problems with games!

Another way is: go to; tools on your tool bar, select internet options, browser history, settings button,,view objects.select the game chess listed then delete it.

  3. Switch to a real chess server. Yahoo chess is rubbish. FICS, the Free Internet Chess Server is a free server that has the same features as pay sites. You can play through your browser, or download a client with many more features, like a graph that keeps track of your improvement. Oh, and people will give you help live if you need it.

  4. I had that problem and I cleared it and it opened for me.

Maybe after you clear it you should restart your browser and try again....or if you didn't do this close your window and reopen the game.

Hope that helps, and if not I hope someone helps.

  5. I installed Adobe Flash Player 9 on Internet Explorer (IE) and I was not able to access the chess board. This version is currently (May 2008) not compatible with Yahoo Chess Games. The error was saying something about the version conflict and that I have an old version in the cache of my browser. I primarily use IE as a default browser and I kept the Flash player version 9 installed on it. I downloaded Firefox and installed Flash Player 7 on it. You can find the old versions of Adobe Flash Player on the following link http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCont... Or you can find the old versions using Google and search terms "get old version flash". On the above page you will find archived all old versions of Flash players. So choose the version 7. and download the whole zipped package. Please note that you have to install the Flash Player intended for Netscape browser. Not the one intended for IE. In the archive you will find also a "read" document in which you will learn which file is for Netscape. I tried flashplayer7_win.exe from the folder "r19" and it works now. When I tried the version 8 of the Flash Player the Chess Board was not working for me.
