  1. Simple things to do are to check the systems air filters. They might be dirty or clogged. Just yesterday i was in a small store, happened to look up at some overhead air conditioning units, the filters were exposed on the back and they were absolutely filthy-clogged. People tend to overlook that and it can make a furnace or air conditioner act wacky and not work right.

Check the outside unit-make certain nothing is blocking it. If there are bushes or anything around or on top of it clear it out.  Look down inside of it where the fan and coil are-make certain its not full of leaves or other garbage that could have blown in it.

Are any of the lines iced up? Any ice built up on the coil area? Does the coil look dirty?

    EDIT:

You asked about where to put in freon. Sadly-its not that simple. Unless you have a universal EPA refrigerant license you can not buy refrigerant/freon for a central air unit.  Even if you could get ahold of refrigerant somehow, you would also need a set of manifold gauges and you would need to know how to hook them up and read them to properly charge the unit. Its not hard, but unless you have been trained in it you probably wouldnt know where to start. You dont just pour it in somewhere as alot of people think. Also if its low on refrigerant that means that you have a leak. The leak would have to be repaired or you would just lose your charge again.

just try cleaning the coils as the person below me mentioned, try getting a filter for the unit. If that doesnt work you will just have to call out the pro's. There are so many various things that can go wrong with a modern HVAC unit that its really hard to diagnose it over the internet.

  2. It probably needs more freon.  The coils may just need to be cleaned.

  3. have someone check your freon in the unit.

  4. 1. turn it on more or make sure its not frozen . plz email me at rescuer101@yahoo.com

  5. First off, are talking about a window or wall unit or a central air conditioner?

I think maybe you are talking about a window or wall. And what exactly do you mean by "sweating"?

If it is not a central then your problem is some real high humdity in your place. It is so high the case is sweating. Then some of your efficiency is going to condensing water and not to cooling. It must be producing a lot of water.

What you need to do is run it a LOT until you start to dry out the house. Then it will cool better.

With no filter you may need to clean the front coils. Those coils may be running too cold because they are plugged up with lint and not enough warm air is passing through them.

You can spray a cleaner on them. You can try using a can of compressed air, like for cleaning computers and keyboards. Or my favorite these days is one of those little steamers that blasts steam on things for cleaning. I bought one for $20. It is well worth and I use it for cleaning all sorts of stuff.

    Good Luck.

Ps, to keep moisture out of the house run the fan when you shower and when you are cooking to exhaust the steam. Also too many houseplants can really raise the humidity in a house. All the water you put on the plants goes in your air in the house.
