We have tried backwashing it and have replaced the sand. Still, every time I vacuum the same thing happens. Any ideas?

  1. your filter is full and it needs to be cleaned

  2. You may vacuum by simply using the head and hose.  (Your sand must be very dirty and need back washing.) Put the vacuum head with handle attached in the bottom of pool. Slowly feed the hose into the water allowing the water to displace the air in the hose. when all air is out, quickly pull hose end over edge of pool and lay it on ground. A suction will be created and will suck everything out on the ground. When finished just refill to desires water level.

Could it be possible that the in and out hoses are crossed?

  3. filter is probably clogged.
