  1. faulty sensor or ABS unit .take the car to a garage and get it checked asap. the car will still brake ok under normal braking conditions, the ABS only kicks in under heavy /emergency braking.

  2. As has been said, It's probably a bad sensor. The warning light is on because there is a fault in the ABS system. Your brakes will still work, but, they will lock up in a panic stop situation. Get it looked at as soon as possible.

  3. don't panic to much as usually the wire under the drivers seat has come loose, if there is a wire under the seat it's probably the abs wire but yeah get it looked at, don't get conned into spending loads by the garage saying it's this that and the other when it could only be that wire

  4. fault in your abs sensor at wheel best bet bring to garage get them to check it work on opel/vauxhall here in ireland is a common enough problem with them brakes will still work under normal braking condition but could lock up on heavy braking hopes this helps

  5. You have a surprising lack of understanding of your ABS system - If you have a handbook for your car, you should read it.

If the ABS warning light illuminates whilst driving, there is a fault with the ABS system, and it has been switched off. Normal braking will still be available, but your braking performance will be seriously reduced under heavy braking, on loose surfaces or in the wet.

You should get this fixed immediately, as if you're involved in a crash there could be problems with your insurance & possible prosecution as you're driving a car with defective brakes.

  6. I,d say faulty sensor too. My son had to have a new one on his Escort for the M O T
