Question:

My ac filter is stuck UP. How do I get it back down?

I know it seems lame, but i was cleaning the filter a bit, as I have a cat. I believe the filter is stuck on something

  1. Turn the unit off and try again. If it doesn't come off then, check to see if it is against a frozen coil.


  2. Unless you have a real dirty house or a cat that sheds alot, I don't think you have filter frozen to the coil (happens with low freon and/or restricted airflow.)

    If it is REALLY stuck, remove the return air grill and get it from the bottom of the closet (if that is your setup.)  Also be prepared to use that vacuum cleaner to get all the dust bunnies down there.

    And to keep if from happening, see about getting a filter base if you are changing the indoor unit.  They're worth their weight in gold.
