My action is natural, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s premier fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, has revealed that his bowling action is completely natural and he never tried to develop it. However, he has advised the upcoming cricketers to not to copy his action.
Malinga is one of the best fast bowlers produced by Sri Lanka and has been a prolific performer for the Islanders over the years. The 28-year-old fast bowler has more than 300 international scalps but he has had a career full of injuries and this is the
reason why he no longer plays Test cricket.
The right-arm fast bowler plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been an inspiration for the franchise over the years.
Malinga is known for his bowling action which is not orthodox by any means. He bowls with a round-arm and has a slinging action, which makes it very hard for the batsmen to pick the trajectory of the ball.
The Sri Lankan cricketer expressed that his action is God-gifted and he never had to develop that. Malinga believes that one should always go with the natural instincts and no youngster should imitate his action because one cannot succeed at the highest
stage of the game with an unnatural style.
He said, “Don’t do that! Nobody should imitate anyone. Every individual is unique and has his own style. One must develop it. Only then will you be effective. You can copy me, but there’s no point. You have to be accurate. I have come up my own way. It’s
(slinging) my natural action. I never developed it.”
While talking about his career, Malinga expressed that he can still serve his country for some more years but the fast bowler understands that he will have to keep working hard on his fitness, in order to prolong his life as an international cricketer.
“I am 28 now, and looking to play for another two or three years. I cannot run much or train hard now after the knee injury, but I try to maintain my skills and fitness levels. I don’t go much to the gym,” Malinga added.
