  1. Um well maybe you could use something else as a log for your bird cause if the wood was contaminated in some way it could hurt your bird. Plus it might be better if you use something else you don't use anymore. Oh and if eany of you have a parrot or african grey please tell how to take care of them by emailing me at jacquelineoh9@yahoo.com cause I am going to get one soon. (thanks)

  2. Don't use a log from the woods unless you know exactly what type of wood it is, and that it has no bugs whatsoever in or on it!

Some types of wood are toxic to birds, even just to climb on.  Go to the pet store to get some ideas on the type of materials you can use for toys.

Remember, beaks are made for chewing, get wood toys and make sure you have backups...they turn hard wood into toothpicks in no time.

  3. Your Grey could get diseases from the log if it is from the outside. Birds like to sharpen their beaks or nibble on wood. The best is to get wood from a store.

As for home-made toys, birds love bells. Take some sturdy wire, and tie a length from the top of the cage with a bell. My old bird would always grab the string and ring the bell.

Also, you can put mirrors on the walls of the cage. Birds love those too.
