Question:

My air conditioner's not very strong?

I have a '90 civic ex sedan. As far as I know my air conditioning is fully functional. The air works, and it's cold, but not ice cold. My problem is that I live in Florida, and whenever I drive my car in the middle of the day, I have to drive with the windows down (Which is risky because the motors are a little faulty, sometimes they refuse to go up and I have to take the door panel off to get them back). The problem is that my air conditioner just can't cool down the car, no matter which speed setting I use, or where the temp k**b and recirculation button is. I have tried the recir/cool/speed 2,3, and 4, but The car just won't cool down inside. What can I do, is it just the air conditioner that doesn't have the strength, the air conditioner is faulty, or something else I can't name?

  1. sounds like you need freon, take it by a local shop.

  2. You need to add freon you can buy it at any automotive store for $20 the directions are on the can and it comes with a gage so you know when it is full, this will help a lot, and if you have never done this before I 'm sure it will help.

  3. You most likely need to get the A/C system recharged, or if it the old Freon, updated and then recharged.
