  1. When air conditioners dehumidify the air, the water has to be drained somewhere. The drain may be blocked and the water is overflowing.

  2. TRY  to  adjust it  so  water  runs  back  away out window It  may be inside  too far.  . Even  a  inch can  make  a lot  difference.  Place  layers  of  newspapers  to absorb  water  then  set  up fan to  dry. Had  same  problem  year  ago.  At first  thought it  was  a  faulty roof  repair  and  even called  company to come  out.  They  said  they  fixed it  ,,, then later  found   water  trail from AC  to  spot  going  in  top floor  down to first  floo ceiling. .

  3. HVAC Tech.: You have a problem best solved by a professional technician. You appear to have a problem in the primary drain that needs the pro-touch.there also seems to be a problem with the secondary drain that if not fixed will continue to leak on your ceiling until it falls down on you. Should you decide to attempt these repairs on your own,NEVER put chlorine bleach into these pans,as it will cause premature failure of the pans. These problems, if taken care of promptly will not cause any sever and lasting damage. Shouldn't cost a lot to fix now,the longer you wait the more expensive it will become. You need the yearly clean-up check-up program. Good luck!

  4. Sounds like your drip pan is stopped up.  I use bleach and pressure from a garden hose to shoot down the drain pipe.  The pan is normally located under your unit to catch the condensation that drips from the until itself.

  5. you need to clean out the drain pipe for the a/c unit

you know the pipe thats always dropping water.. check to see if there is flow i doubt there is.. mold and slime build up in that pipe and block it causing the overflow. spray a hose from where the water is supposed to come out of the pipe and that should clear it .

  6. It's possible that the drain outlet is blocked up. You should get an ac technician to service it.

  7. Often the simplest solution for me is to use a wet vac and attach it to the outside drain line coming from the a/c.  Try to get a good seal on it so you're getting full suction and let it run a few minutes.  Usually if it comes unclogged you'll be able to hear the difference in the sound of the vac motor.  If you remove the vac and still don't see any water dripping from the pipe, you need more help.  Good Luck.

  8. I think you are talking about a central air unit and not a window unit and the air handler is what's leaking. So I'll answer as if that is the case since several has suggested for a window unit.

Your air handler is supposed to have a drip pan under it according to building codes, and this can be made of plastic or metal. The pan is where condensation drips into under normal conditions and very likely it has built up a scum which has either stopped up the drain hole or the PVC pipe used to take away the water and put it into the drainage system like the water from your sinks.

You can take up boiling hot water and a jug of Clorox bleach to the attic and pour about a quart of the Clorox full strength (Only if the pan is not completely full) then take a straightened out wire coat hanger and locate the drain hole in the pan (look for a PVC pipe attached to the pan for the hole) and jiggle the wire around in the hole.

Watch the water level in the pan to see if it's going down. If it does, go ahead and pour another quart of Clorox in followed by the hot water.

More times than not, that will unstop the drain and stop the gunk from coming back for a while.
