My air conditioner ( window unite) has a really bad smell ( urine like smell)...????

Since yesterday my air conditioner started to have a smell when I turn it on... urine smell, and it smells really, really bad. What can I do to make the smell go away???

sounds like water is not draining properly check that the air conditioner has a slight pitch to allow run off of condensation also clean filter regularly and I have seen people use febreeze on the filter and let it dry before installing back good luck

there are these filter type things that goes in your air conditioner and they have these amazing scented ones! they sell them in walmart and they are super easy to install. so go for it ask one of the people were they keep them.(* which is usually by the light bulb section.) and it has instructions so your home will bw *fresh*

HVAC Tech.:Clean the filter once a month! While you have it out take one of those pistol grip spray bottles with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, if you can find an old tooth brush use it to scrub the fins on the coil ( only with an up and down motion).take your time the vinegar will do the real cleaning, open the drain, kill the molds and remove the slime. Reassemble and enjoy clean cool air. Good Luck.

check outside. if necessary clean that area.

If that doesnt help i put dyer sheets in my air conditioner filter. it smells wonderful.  change frequently
