My alarm doesnt work in my car, how can I fix it myself

The alarm keychain works perfectly , but the alarm system in the car doesnt respond to the keychain alarm button when the alarm goes off, I checked the keychain and the battery is perfect, but the alarm system in the vehicle doesnt respond and I cant shut it off. How can I fix it myself ?

is the system built into the car itself or is it an aftermarket alarm system that someone installed? if its factory, it could just be the sensor thats gone bad...go into your local parts store and ask for a replacement and find out where the sensor is located...i would also pick up a Chilton repair manual for your vehicle, there is everything you need to know in that book and they give you step by step instructions as to how to fix the problem...good luck!
